Theistic Evolution Continued

In the last article I wrote I discussed simple evidence for evolution. This time however, I will briefly answer some common objections asked by creationist.

"Evolution Isn't Science"

Okay so this objection is just a misunderstanding of scientific method. Usually creationist point to how the scientific method requires observation in order to develop a proper hypothesis. Humans weren't around millions of years ago so we'll have to use forensic science to see if evolution actually happened. When you have a crime scene you have to use the evidence that was left from the original event. The fossil record is our crime scene. When we see fragments of dead organisms we have to use scientific method to best explain this animals existence.

1. Observation and description of a phenomenon or group of phenomena.

Using this first basic step of the scientific method we can see that this organism died a while ago. Let's use the example of a fish. We see this fossilized fish and realize that this particular species has gone extinct. The scientist realizing this will have a series of questions such as, "When did it die", "What killed this fish", "What gave rise to this species". I won't answer all of these things but I will quickly look at the evidence given. How exactly do scientist calculate the age of a rock? Very simplify, scientist use radioactive decay to determine how old a rock is. It's like a geologic clock. With the fossils that have been discovered you can determine a relative date for when an organism existed. Collecting millions of fossils and doing all these test lets scientist put species into different periods. All of this is purely scientific. The examples I gave demonstrate The basic steps of the scientific method.
